I am intersted in learning more about this product.
Is this software “stand alone” that is does it have
to be used in tandem with other software ie autocad?
Also what are the PC requirements.Hope to hear back
    soon.
    Thanks Garrett

StairDesigner is stand alone but also works very well with Autocad. Have a look at my recent post “Using StairDesigner with Autocad for more information.

Hi, I’m looking for a design program for a curved staircase. I can see how you can give the dimensions for the treads but how do you give the dimensions for the stringers ie how easy can this be translated to build from? I’ve built straight stairs. Curved objects but these have been from physical templates. I look forward to your reply. Thanks

I just started to use your demo. Could you send me a user guide on how to use your software? Thank you.

Can cantilever stairs be created in Stair Designer?

Hello Patrick, I not sure what you mean by cantilever stairs.
If you mean without strings it’s easy to just eliminate the strings using the Stringboard Parameters command. Just un tick the box at the top.
I’m sending you and example by email. Tell me what you think.
    all the best,

Hi Paul, StairDesigner is very helpful for curved stairs as it shows the an instant 3D model that shows you how the curves are developed from the step positions and then calculates automatically the developement of the strings and handrails. So you have most of the necessary information if you are using laminated construction. If you are building using a tangent system you’ll have to use the DXF files in a CAD package to develope the face moulds.
I’ll try to post an example of building a curved stair on the blog in the coming weeks.

    Hope this is helpful.

I have a client wanting a very modern staircase. First flight up to
platform and second flight up to bedroom area. Thus it has a U SHAPED
configuration. The total of 11 steps are cantilevered out from a A)diagonal steel beam anchored to the platform and the floor below. From the platform another 11 catelivered steps are attached to a second diagonal beam anchored at mid-way platform to upper floor level in the
bedroom area. QUESTION: Will your software accomodate custom staircase
design such as stated above? alternate e-mail munro757@yahoo.com

    Hello Bruce,
    Thanks for your comment.
StairDesigner will not do all the design work for a custom stair as you have described. To build this type of stair you can use the software to calculate the stair the program will calculate and draw the plans but you will have to edit the DXF files in other CAD program to add your construction details such as the steel beams.
In general although StairDesigner will not draw all the finished plans automatically the program stills does a lot of the teadious work and the drawing files are very easy to edit in CAD.
Hope this replies to your question.
